Knoydart walks
Knoydart is a peninsula in the Lochaber district on the West coast of the Scottish Highlands. It is cut off from the UK mainland road network, thus meaning access can only be made either by boat or on foot. The rugged and remote landscape is one of the primary attractions of the area. Inverie is the main settlement area and is home to over half of the full time residents (currently around 120).
MUNROS
Knoydart has three Munros: Ladhar Bheinn, Luinne Bheinn and Meall Buidhe.
Regarded by many hillwalkers as amongst the finest mountains in Scotland, Ladhar Bheinn enjoys a superb position on western seaboard in the remote Knoydart peninsula. It has dramatic ridges, huge crags falling into Coire Dhorrcail and amazing sea and mountain views from the summit. The two remote Knoydart Munros, Luinne Bheinn and Meall Buidhe, may be less celebrated than Ladhar Bheinn, but they still provide a superlative and challenging mountain walk. Rough, rocky summits packed with character and wonderful views.
Best Nevis Mountain Guiding offers guided walks up those Munros. Contact us for more information.
WALKING INTO KNOYDART
Join me for a 3-day round trip to beautiful Knoydart! We will start walking from Glenfinnan, which is reachable by bus, train or car. From there we will walk north and after a 5 or 6 hour walk put up our tents in the wild. On the second day we will walk west and end the day in Inverie. On the last day there will be time for more walking, climbing one of the 3 Munros on the peninsula, or joining a walk with the Knoydart ranger (only possible on certain days) before we take the boat back to Mallaig. From there a bus or train will take us back to Glenfinnan or elsewhere on your journey.
Price for 3 days is usually £95,- pp (min. 2 people), but the price per person reduces if there are more people in your party (Individual prices on request).(Price doesn't include accommodation, food & drink and boat, train or bus costs. We can, however, help you out with booking any of these.)
The trip can be tailored to your needs.
Contact me by email or text for more information or to discuss options.
There's a choice of accommodation in Inverie: B&B's, bunkhouse and campsite. For dinner you can bring your own food or you can eat at the Knoydart Pottery & Tearoom, the Knoydart Snack & Co. (burger van) or the famous Old Forge, the latter also being the place to get that well deserved drink at the end of the walk.
